Who is Sofi Afable?
I turned 16 in June of 2024 and I have been playing competitive golf for a little over 3 years. In those 3 years, I grew 5 inches and just when I thought I had one aspect of my game dialed in, I was growing yet again. My physical growth affected every aspect of my game from mental, to physical, to strategy, to nutrition, to swing and short game. I am hoping it is safe to say I have stopped growing at 6 feet, regardless, even through all the challenges and frustrating scores, I still LOVE golf and playing competitively! I embraced the challenge of an ever changing swing, even though I wasn’t happy with the tournament results and I now find myself in GRIND mode, with a dialed in swing I LOVE and scores I am happy about!
I have also been able to learn so many interesting aspects of golf such as the technical side of equipment and why and how it is important to your game as well as the importance of course management. I have learned about club building and I build my own clubs.
Because of golf, I have been able to make life long friends in the little amount of time playing tournament golf. I have played on 2 State Championship teams. I have watched my high school friends and mentors have awesome signing days and go play for colleges.
This year, I have decided to further dedicate more time to golf by attending The Bryn Mawr Online School based in Baltimore. It is ranked 14th in the country for scholastics as an all girls private school. Academics is important to me, thus the reason for attending a school that will be challenging and help me achieve my career goals outside of golf. It will give me more time on the golf course and enable me to get more experience by playing tournaments nationally and possibly worldwide.
I love the challenge of golf and I can’t wait for what the future holds in store for me!
